In the process of writing the article on country sayin's for the September/October Hometown, I found that there are more colorful country sayings than I can shake a stick at, much less publish in Hometown. Some of you might be tempted to give me down in the country for getting some of them wrong or for leaving out your favorites. If you have a different interpretation of any of the country sayin's I mentioned, please let us know by commenting on this post. If we left out your favorite, please post it in your comment.

Update on July/August Story on Mary Vowell
Mary participated in the national Senior Olympics this summer after the story about her appeared in the July/August issue of Hometown. She entered six swimming events and got ribbons in each one!
This is in the 80--84 age group, as follows:
5th, 50 Yard Breaststroke, 1:15.35;
6th, 100 Yard Breaststroke, 2:55.48
4th, 200 Yard Breaststroke, 6:20.38
8th, 50 Yard Freestyle, 1:01.16
7th, 100 Yard Freestyle, 2:24.44
6th, 100 Yard Individual Medley, 3:17.00
Congratulations, Mary. We stand in awe of you!
